This website, conceived as a "comprehensive introduction" to the land use history of the Colorado Plateau, is divided into 7 color-coded sections: Biota, Places, Change, Trends, Tools, People, and Research. These major topics, which include the key elements of the environmental history of the Colorado Plateau, are organized like spokes on a wheel with Research at the center.

You can begin navigating through the site from any major section, depending on your area(s) of interest. Each major section has an introductory page summarizing its contents and a toolbar specific to that section with links to related pages.
As an example, if you are interested in the historical impact of grazing and you began in the Change section, you would find a link to a Grazing page in that section.
If you began in the Places section you would find a link to the Grazing page from the Little Colorado River Basin page, since this is an area with a notable grazing history.

As you navigate more deeply into the site you will eventually be led to the Research section. For example, from the Grazing page you will find a link to a research paper on grazing which we have chosen and summarized based on its quality, readability, and scholarship. This paper, and others, can also be reached directly from the Research section.
